BLOG TOUR ~ Junction of Earth and Sky by Susan Buttenwieser
Hi Everyone,
Today is my stop for the Blog Tour of Junction of Earth and Sky by Susan Buttenwieser where I've a review of her latest book. I was thrilled to be asked by Tracy Fenton from Compulsive Reading in conjunction with Zaffre who organised this tour to take part along with some other fab book bloggers. You can find out who else has taken part in this fabulous Blog Tour at the end of this so without further ado, here it is:
Coming of age in 1940s England, Alice's life is thrown into chaos under the shadow of war where she's forced to let go of her hopes and dreams, she finds herself uprooted to America and a life she never could ha e imagined.
Decades late, it is the 1990s and Alice's granddaughter Marnie is living out of a worn-outChevy Bova, running heroin and cocaine along the New England coastline.
Yet she carries with her the memories of a nutured childhood in hardscrabble Rhode Island, where all the disappointments of her young parents were eclipsed by her grandmother's love.
Spanning six decades and two continents, from the shores of World War II in England to the underside of the 1990s America, Junction of Earth and Sky unfolds in multiple timelines- the enduring bond of grandmother and granddaughter, plagued by the past but determined to find their place in the world against all the odds.
Well, where do I start with this review!? I didn't just like it, I absolutely LOVED IT. It was brilliant and I CAN'T recommend it enough, to be honest I wasn't too sure when I first started the book if I was going to like it but I'm so glad I stuck with it as it was brilliant and very emotional in parts so prepare yourself and maybe have a tissue handy (just incase). It has it all from family, love, lies, betrayal to more darker subject matters of alcoholism and domestic violence which was covered and handled with great empathy, was well researched and described so well I could feel it coming out on to me on the pages. I even had to slow down reading it as I didn't want it to end, the story flowed really well and at a fast pace too and there were parts in the book I could feel my heart rate raising a little so it's definitely not for the fainthearted. This is Susan's first novel and I hope it won't be too long before there will be another novel from her as this novel will stay with me for a long time.
Junction of Earth and Sky is published by Zaffre and is available on Kindle, Audiobooks and is available from all good bookstores and libraries.

Dark secrets cast long shadows...
On a peaceful hilltop campsite in the heat of summer, aprivate plane crash-lands. Several are killed, and many more lives are shattered- including those of the Gale family who own the site. For single parent Cathy Gale, her everyday struggles are eclipsed by the tragedy, as her boy Albie is one of the victims. He hangs onto life, while 18-year-old sister Nell, who was meant to be looking after him, is overcome with guilt.
As DS Ali Samson leads the investigation, locals are scandalised to learn that the amnesiac pilot has plans to stay in the community- and as dark secrets come to light, teenager Nell goes into free-fall. What is it she's so desperate to conceal? And exactly who is the Unknown Pilot?
Well, where do I start with this review!? I didn't just like it, I absolutely LOVED IT. It was brilliant and I CAN'T recommend it enough, it had me gripped from the first few pages right through to the end, there were some great twists and turns too which I definitely wasn't expecting. It has it all from family sagas, secrets, lies, betrayal to a more darker subject matter which was covered and handled with empathy and was well researched. I even had to slow down reading it as I didn't want it to end, the story flowed really well and at a fast pace too and there were parts in the book I could feel my heart rate raising a little so it's definitely not for the fainthearted. This is the second book that I've read by Isabel and I am really looking forward to reading more of Isabel's books and coincidentally I'm currently waiting on Little Sister and Beautiful Liars from my local library and I hope it won't be too long before they come in so I can get to read them.
One Girl, One Summer is published by Orion and is available on Kindle, Audiobooks and is available from all good bookstores and libraries.

COVER REVEAL~ The Time of The Fire by Emma Kavanagh
On the anniversary of her mother's death, CEO-in-waiting Robyn Sandoval goes for a morning run. She knows her father - a local fire fighting hero - is desperate to speak to her, to tell her something he wants her to know before she starts her new job leading the corporation that owns most of their Northern Californian town of Destino. But when Robyn arrives, she finds him dead.
Meanwhile, after months of drought, a freak forest fire ignites on the mountain ridge looming over the town. Destino has never burned; its unique position protected by the seemingly insurmountable barrier of the ridge, a favourable wind direction, and a belief long held by the community that they are categorically safe.
A life split in two.
Robyn is shaken to the core by her father's death, and her life is shattered in two, the fabric of her reality shorn by the sheer force of her grief.
The next time she wakes, everything is different: her father is alive, and there's no sign of the fire on the ridge.
To understand what is happening, she has to confront not only the secrets of her past but both versions of her present. Because back in her world, the fire is spreading and the time to find answers is running out...

Becky Lawson’s life has been shattered.
When she discovers her husband, John - a trusted policeman - was a monster, she reported him. But her faith in the system was crushed when it didn't lead to any charges or consequences.
Now, John lives freely with a girlfriend and her young daughter, while Becky battles guilt over missing the obvious signs.
Determined for justice, Becky hunts him down. But John wants her silenced - at any cost. Becky knows only one of them can survive, and she'll do anything to make sure it's her.
